ICJ Extends Deadlines in Iran v. Canada ICAO Case
By an Order dated 3 September 2026, the President of the International Court of Justice extended the time-limits for Iran's Reply and the Rejoinder of Canada, Sweden, Ukraine and the United Kingdom to 21 October 2026 and 22 March 2027 respectively, in the appeal relating to the jurisdiction of the ICAO Council under Article 84 of the Chicago Convention. The case stems from Iran's challenge to a 2025 ICAO Council ruling that it had jurisdiction over a joint complaint tied to the 2020 downing of Ukraine International Airlines Flight PS752.
